Periradicular therapy (PRT) has become a routine method in pain management, particularly for chronic back pain. Pain along the entire spine can be treated in a targeted way. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis and is especially suitable for patients with long-standing back pain who have not achieved sufficient relief with medication and physiotherapy.
To reduce symptoms, the physician injects an anti-inflammatory medication near the inflamed nerve root. With the use of a local anesthetic, PRT is generally comfortable and minimally painful. CT or MRI guidance is used to precisely confirm optimal needle placement and medication delivery during the procedure.
Dr. Ćoćić will explain the full treatment process in detail during a consultation in advance.
